Location
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Job Summary
Responsible for providing professional and technical expertise in Fire and Life Safety to support the university's Environmental and Occupational Safety operations. Supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive fire and life safety program across the university. Coordinates the inspections, repair and maintenance of fire and life safety systems to ensure safety and codes compliance. Conducts hazard and risk assessments. Provides support to university units. Develops and conducts fire and life safety training, and responds to fire, life safety or other emergencies.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the University's fire and life safety program
- Plans, schedules, coordinates, and oversees inspections, testing, and repair and maintenance of fire and life safety protection systems, including sprinklers, pumps, hydrants, and specialized systems
- Assists with development and implementation of fire and life safety programs, procedures, strategies, and guidelines
- Provide safety consultation, and compliance support to departments, faculty, staff, and students.
- Plans and conducts routine fire and life safety inspections and audits of university's operations, activities, events, and facilities to ensure compliance with KSU's, USG, State, local and Federal rules, regulations, standards, codes, and practices
- Coordinates, and oversees the work of external services providers for system inspections, testing, repairs, and maintenance
- Coordinates and ensures timely implementation of corrective actions to address deficiencies and non-compliance observations resulting from internal or external inspections or audits
- Conducts investigation of fire and life safety-related incidents and compile comprehensive reports, offering recommendations for improved safety measures
- Designs, develops, and delivers fire and life safety training to employees and students
- Supports the planning and implementation of fire drills and emergency response exercises to ensure readiness
- Participates in university safety committees, as needed
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Fire Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering or related field
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid and unrestricted driver's license
Required Experience
Five (5) years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
NICET 1 (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) certification in fire protection
Fire Inspector Certification
Familiar with different brands of alarm systems
Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Proposed Salary
The midpoint of the salary range is $72,600. Offers are based on relevant experience.

Knowledge and understanding of fire safety principles, risk assessment, hazard analysis, and accident investigation
Knowledge of established safety standards, fire and life safety codes, state statutes; theories, practices, procedures, methods, and techniques
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
