Overview:
THIS IS A TEMPORARY, HOURLY AS NEEDED POSITION WITHOUT PERMANENT STATUS. This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview.
Minimum Qualifications:
A. The minimum of one of the following awarded/conferred from a regionally accredited institution: 1. Any bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience; OR 2. Any associate degree and six years of professional experience; Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master’s degree. The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member’s teaching assignment. AND B. Commitment to the community college goals/objectives of providing quality programs and services for students with diverse abilities and interests; personal qualities to work effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment; awareness and commitment to the special needs of non-traditional students.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, both orally and in writing. 2. Community college teaching experience, with a strong understanding of di Community college teaching experience 3. Background and experience teaching and administering State Fire Marshal Company Officer and Chief Officer courses 4. Demonstrated knowledge of State Fire Marshal’s Regionally Accredited Training, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations associated with public safety disciplines. 5. Background and experience in administration and delivery of IFSAC/Pro Board Certification Examination and National Recognition Procedures 8. Demonstrated ability to examine and re-mediate one’s instructional relational. 9. Experience teaching firefighter skills and/or wildland firefighter skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Provide instruction in accordance with the officially approved Course Outline of Record for assigned courses. 2. Deliver lecture, laboratory, and scenario-based instruction in a variety of Fire Technology subject areas, which may include: Fire Prevention, Fire Protection Equipment and Systems, Fire Behavior, Hazardous Materials, Firefighting Tactics and Strategy, Arson and Fire Investigation, Wildland Fire Control, Firefighter Safety and Survival, Fire Protection Organization. 3. Teaching assignments may also include participation in the Basic Fire Academy, Wildland Fire Academy, and/or State Fire Training (SFT) Company Officer and Chief Officer certification courses. 4. Support the planning, organization, and delivery of Fire Academy programs, including: 5. Instructor recruitment, selection, and evaluation 6. Trainee selection, assessment, and evaluation 7. Coordination of instructional facilities and training resources 8. Contribute to curriculum development, student learning outcome (SLO) assessment, and program improvement.
Salary:
$98.45 per hour (based on lecture hour equivalent)
