Fiscal Officer
FISCAL OFFICER, Office of Innovation and Strategy, provides comprehensive financial and administrative support; manages the financial operations of multiple OIS collaboratives and initiatives, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and consistency in budgeting, reporting, and transaction processing; will be responsible for tracking expenditures and revenues, identifying variances, and recommending corrective actions; reviewing and approving financial transactions in accordance with MIT policies; and maintaining accurate records across numerous programs; performing monthly account reconciliations, resolvimg discrepancies, and working closely with the Vice President for Finance (VPF), the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), and other central offices to ensure compliance with MIT and federal requirements; supporting principal investigators and research staff with grant management, including monitoring expenditures and preparing sponsor reports; providing guidance to initiative directors and faculty on MIT financial and sponsored-research policies, and developing financial tracking and reporting tools to improve consistency and transparency.
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; a minimum of five years of relevant financial or accounting experience; strong analytical, quantitative, organizational, and communication skills; and proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel. PREFERRED: Familiarity with MIT financial and sponsored-research systems and knowledge of federal research compliance requirements.
