Frost Center-Interim Researcher

The Interim Researcher leads and supports research conducted by the Frost Center for Social Science Research, which is Hope College's flagship research center. Working with external community partners and supporting internal research efforts, this position manages survey research, collaborates with internal stakeholders and external partners, and participates in developing deliverables for various grant-related and collaborative research projects. This position reports to the Director of the Frost Center for Social Science Research. This is a full-time, temporary position (1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week, from June-December 2026) at the Frost Center for Social Science Research. Compensation will be $2,500 paid semi-monthly.

The Interim Researcher will:

  • Lead and support research projects completed by the Frost Center for Social Science Research
    1. Oversee research projects, including data collection, survey administration, data analysis, report preparation, and project management
    2. Develop and provide structured training programs to students working in the Frost Center, completing data collection, and facilitating focus groups
    3. Participate in final editing of deliverables, assuring accuracy in data, analysis, professional appearance, and data privacy
    4. Support ongoing grant and collaborative research projects and activities
    5. Work collaboratively with community-based research partners
  • Support Hope College faculty, staff, and students research efforts, including training student research assistants and other staff to provide technical support while remaining current with tools and knowledge related to Frost Center survey and research tools
  • Annually complete CITI Training for human subjects or the refresher course, FERPA training, and Title IX training
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in social sciences, statistics, or other discipline appropriate to the position, with doctoral degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a research environment
  • Demonstrated experience and advanced skills in statistical analysis and associated research and survey tools
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in a team-based environment that requires working closely with professional staff, faculty members, and students
  • Preference for experience working with Qualtrics, Excel, data analysis software (SSPS, SAS, or R), and Tableau, or other visualization tools
