FT Academic Professional - Outreach Librarian (Temporary)
Job Summary:
This position will plan, implement, and assess library outreach programs across diverse college and community groups to facilitate student information literacy and address academic support needs of non-traditional, underrepresented and transfer students. Initiates, plans, and conducts a variety of programs and activities to encourage the use of the library and resources to increase student engagement and success. Participates in proactive whole group instruction, and individual face-to-face and online reference service with the goal of teaching information literacy skills. Participates in the selection and evaluation of library materials and serves as library liaison to assigned academic programs. Develops content for the library website, web-based tutorials and research guides. Must demonstrate a commitment to the diversity of a multi-cultural population, as well as work effectively in a team-based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the community college philosophy. Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community. LCC policy requires all LCC employees to be residents of the State of Michigan and to perform all work (with limited exceptions) within the State of Michigan. Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.
Required Qualifications:
MLIS (Master’s in Library or Information Science) or equivalent degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program and regionally accredited institution. Teaching or information literacy instruction experience. Demonstrated experience in outreach, communication, marketing or similar experience. Demonstrated experience in planning and facilitating library programming. Demonstrated experience providing reference or research assistance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge of print and electronic information resources. Ability to work in a collegial, dynamic, and progressive team environment. Demonstrated experience working with students who are historically underrepresented. Familiarity with web content development and library technology.
