The School of Interdisciplinary Forensics (SIF) in the College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible, tenured faculty position at the rank of Full Professor in our forensic psychology/psychology and law programs. We are interested in candidates with expertise in one or more areas of psychological science (e.g., cognitive, clinical, developmental, neuropsychology, quantitative, social) with a demonstrated interest in addressing issues facing the law or legal systems, broadly defined. The position will begin in August 2026.

The faculty member will be a core member of ASU’s Law and Behavioral Science group, an interdisciplinary collective of psychological scientists engaged in research that addresses current and emerging issues facing the legal system in its broadest sense. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded program of research in forensic psychology; deliver quality undergraduate and graduate instruction in psychology and law; contribute service to the School, College, University, the profession, and the community.

Faculty can participate in university-wide graduate programs. The successful candidate for this search will join the faculty in SIF and collaborate closely with faculty in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences and the Psychology Department to expand and deepen program offerings and research endeavors in support of advancing the rigor. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a unit that values innovative research and undergraduate education equally while being housed in an R1 university. This has created the opportunity for our student population to obtain individual faculty mentorship on the West Valley Campus of ASU, which provides a close-knit residential campus setting.

SIF offers a unique approach to forensic education, offering students transdisciplinary ways to learn about how technology and science interact with law, legal systems, and legal issues. SIF has strengths in three primary domains: (1) the psychological sciences, including clinical, developmental, and social psychology, as well as interdisciplinary psychology and law; (2) the natural sciences, such as anthropology (including bioarcheology, osteology, paleoanthropology), chemistry, and biology (including entomology and genetics); and (3) information technology (digital forensics and cybersecurity). With a focus on real-world applications and ethical considerations, SIF prepares students for careers in which they shape a justice system informed by scientific evidence, and in which investigative and legal processes reflect empirically supported best practices and all people receive fair treatment.

Essential Functions of the Position:

• Establish a vigorous, externally funded program of research in psychology and law.
• Create and teach courses in relevant areas of forensic psychology/psychology and law to undergraduate and graduate students in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.
• Advance impactful education through undergraduate research, innovative programmatic development, and culturally responsive teaching and mentoring practices.
• Contribute meaningful service to the School, College, University, profession, and community, as appropriate.
• Engage in regular professional development.

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in psychology or a closely related field at the time of hire.
• Demonstrated expertise in the intersection of psychology and law.
• Portfolio of university teaching, research, and service that merits appointment as a full Professor with tenure at Arizona State University.

Desired Qualifications:

• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical psychology with expertise in forensic clinical assessment and/or treatment.
• Board certification in forensic psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology.
• Evidence of empirical publications in top-tier journals in general psychology and/or legal psychology.
• A successful record of securing external funding for research.
• Experience teaching courses at the intersection of psychology and the law or legal systems.
• Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including first-generation college students.
• Evidence of successful course development experience commensurate with the candidate's rank.
• Demonstrated experience in mentoring students in research in relevant areas.
• Established collaborations with industry partners and/or previous industry experience.
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness as demonstrated by one or more of the following: student evaluations, syllabi, peer observations, annual performance evaluations, etc.
