Description

Santa Rosa Junior College is seeking an individual with demonstrated instructional skills to join an outstanding team of faculty and instructional administrators to provide high quality programs and services to our district, our community, and most importantly, our students. This is a full-time, regular contract position in the Department of Public Safety at Santa Rosa Junior College, beginning Spring Semester, January 2025. Appointments are contingent upon funding and Board approval.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Salary Range: Yearly Salary of $80,693 - $113,724 (23/24 Faculty Salary Schedule); Placement within this range is determined by teaching experience, other related professional experience, and academic degrees. Contracted salary is for 177 days per year (August through May) as specified in the All Faculty Association Contract, Article 8. AFA Contract - Articles

Essential Functions

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: The Public Safety department is based at the Public Safety Training Center (PSTC) in Windsor. The three disciplines of Public Safety are Administration of Justice, Fire Technology and Emergency Medical Care.

The Department of Public Safety offers over 200 sections of public safety educational programs annually for approximately 6,000 students taught by 6 full time faculty and almost 200 part time(associate) instructors. This program offers 13 career certificates as well as degree programs in each of the public safety disciplines.

The Emergency Medical Care (EMC) discipline provides initial education and training for Emergency Medical Responders, Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics. EMC also provides in service education in American Heart Association classes, National Association of EMTs trauma classes, and emergency vehicle operations for EMS providers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Emergency Medical Care (EMC) discipline is seeking a passionate full time faculty member to join its team. The successful candidate will join two full time and over twenty adjunct faculty in providing high quality instruction to nearly 250 EMC students per semester. High fidelity simulators, a simulation village, and a fleet of actual ambulances opens a tremendous opportunity to deliver innovative instruction and develop EMC students for the workforce. The paramedic academy is nationally accredited and students in both the paramedic and EMT programs enjoy one of the highest success rates on the NREMT exam nationally.

EMC offers courses at three campuses, located in Windsor, Roseland and Petaluma, and online. While this assignment is for the Public Safety Training Center, please note the district reserves the right of assignment to any location, and that assignments could involve any combination of day or evening classes with weekly office hours being mandatory. Instructors assume responsibility for maintaining currency in the field, for updating existing courses and developing new curricula (including courses that serve community needs, such as short, non-credit, or online courses), assisting in the assessment of student learning outcomes, participating in department activities and other college service such as committee work, managing laboratories, and participating in community outreach on behalf of the college.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required: Bachelor's degree AND two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) related experience; OR an Associate's degree AND six years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) related experience; OR the equivalent; OR a fully satisfied (Life) California Community College Instructor's Credential; AND Must be a currently licensed in California as Paramedic, Physician, or Registered Nurse, or Physician Assistant, (or ability to obtain licensure upon hire) AND Must possess forty hours of teaching methodology training as required by the California EMS Authority Title 22, or ability to obtain training within 6 months of employment.

Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications exactly as listed above for disciplines of interest, or they must file for equivalency in order to be considered.

Preferred: In addition to the required minimum qualifications, preferred qualifications include: Experience in high-fidelity simulation education; Knowledge of various simulation technologies, including iSImulate, Laerdal, Gaumard; Experience in teaching within an Academy environment; Experience in working with students from diverse backgrounds.
