Position Description Summary/Purpose:

Full-time faculty members at Goodwin University are responsible for maintaining the highest academic standards in their specific disciplines. They teach 15 credit hours each semester, across three semesters annually. Faculty teach year-round, serve on college committees, develop and update curricula, stay current in their academic fields and teaching methods, participate in both on- and off-campus staff development activities, perform administrative duties related to their roles, engage in university, professional, and community service, and pursue scholarly work related to teaching and learning.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teach all classes according to an approved course syllabus.
  • Ensure that each course includes essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and remains current.
  • Ensure that assigned classes are conducted as scheduled and maintain strong attendance and punctuality.
  • Assess student academic achievement and demonstrate adjustments to teaching methods based on assessment feedback and universal course design.
  • Submit reports accurately and promptly, including attendance, grades, and related documentation.
  • Attend team meetings and participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of content area goals and curriculum review based on student learning outcomes.
  • Initiate discussions and suggest improvements to the Program Director regarding teaching, curriculum, and processes aimed at enhancing student outcomes.
  • Attend professional development activities to stay informed about current trends and innovative instructional approaches.
  • Serve on and provide information to university committees as needed and requested.
  • Engage in scholarly work (e.g., presentations, publications).
  • Conduct all work safely and follow all work safety practices.

Other Functions:

  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
  • Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
  • Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.
  • Teaches didactic courses in Associate Degree program or Bachelor’s Degree programs online and clinical teaching, as well as Sim Lab participation and assignment.

  • Possesses the ability to work cooperatively within a team setting.
  • Exhibits the capacity to exercise individual initiative, independent action, and sound judgment.
  • Skilled in analyzing, synthesizing, and interpreting student learning outcome data to improve teaching and learning.
  • Didactic or online teaching experience helpful.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Master’s degree required*; Doctorate degree preferred
  • 2-3 years’ teaching experience preferred
  • Current AHA CPR
