10 - Month Tenure Track Position
COMPENSATION:
Initial salary placement ranges from $67,886 to $106,308, based upon education and experience. The current faculty salary schedule includes five classes and twenty steps with a maximum annual salary of $142,425.

Representative Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teaching various courses in the Biology department.
- Working with other faculty in designing new laboratory activities and revising existing laboratory activities.
- Utilize state-of-the-art laboratory technology.
- Participating in program and curriculum development, student learning outcomes and assessment, as well as the department mission statement, master plan, and master plan updates.
- Teaching scheduled classes and performing related duties as assigned, including timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities.
- Complying with District policies and procedures in the performance of all duties.
- Participating in staff development activities and keeping up with the latest news and developments in the biological sciences.
- Serving on area and college-wide committees as necessary to support and enrich the instructional program.
- Demonstrating sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of students and colleagues.
- Promoting the success of a diverse student population through careful preparation of course materials and effective teaching methodologies.
- Maintaining a visible presence on campus in order to be available to regularly and actively participate in department meetings, organizing biology major's club, and other activities.
- Providing critical feedback on all assignments.
- Participating in assessment, evaluation, and planning of student learning outcomes and program earning outcomes, program review, and curriculum development.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's in any biological science OR bachelor's in any biological science AND master's in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science OR the equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three (3) years of teaching experience in Biology preferred at Community College level.
- Experience teaching face-to-face and hybrid courses.
- Strong background in human biology is preferred.
- Experience working with cadavers is valued.
Must have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Office, classroom, lab and/or on-line environment. Position requires ability to communicate and exchange information. The assignment may include day, weekend, and/or evening classes on campus and/or at off campus locations. Position requires ability and schedule flexibility to accommodate active participation in College and Department Outreach Events such as College and Career Fairs and College and Community Presentations.
Knowledge and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of college-level coursework in Biology
- Ability to use advanced technology in the classroom
- Ability to effectively communicate with and cooperate with others
- Ability to use Canvas or other LMS platforms
- Ability to interact with others (faculty, staff, students, administration)
- Knowledge of developing course syllabi
- Knowledge of fostering inclusive environments for student learning
- Knowledge of integrating accessible practices into course design and teaching strategies
- Knowledge and ability to teach and support students across multiple modalities including, online, hybrid, remote, HyFlex, and correspondence while maintaining engagement and accessibility.
- Knowledge and ability to maintain compliance with all third-party accrediting bodies by keeping required credentials, certifications, and regulatory standards current when applicable.
- Ability to work effectively in person through clear communication, collaboration, and adaptability in diverse professional settings.
- Demonstrated ability to remain current in one's discipline through ongoing professional development, research, and engagement with emerging trends and best practices.
