Full Time Nursing Faculty
Job Summary
A unique opportunity exists to help found a new undergraduate nursing program at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, Winona Campus. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Pre-Licensure program is approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing and accredited by Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The first cohort of freshman nursing students began their studies in Fall 2021 and graduated in May 2025. 100% of graduates passed the NCLEX on their first attempt and are licensed as RN's.
As a member of the founding team, the Nursing Faculty will join the curriculum development already underway. We continue to refine the newly designed nursing courses and clinical rotations for four cohorts of nursing students. The nursing curriculum uses a concept-based approach to teaching and a competency-based approach to assessment. Canvas Online Learning Platform, ATI learning resources, and CAE and Gaumard simulation technology are utilized to enhance student learning. The Nursing Faculty member develops, teaches, monitors, and evaluates courses in the baccalaureate pre-licensure program. Responsibilities may be a mix of classroom, skills lab, simulation, and clinical as suited to the individual faculty member’s area of expertise.

Salary Range: $73,000-$78,000
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Faculty Duties:
- Collaborate with the Program Director and other Nursing Faculty members in refining the nursing curriculum and mapping at various levels to meet accreditation competencies
- Teach in the nursing curriculum either lecture, skills lab, or clinical courses. Faculty load is 22-24 credits per year (Fall and Spring Semesters)
- Participate in program and course evaluation which includes program review and assessment of student learning initiatives
- Serve as academic advisor. Provide effective assistance to students with achieving success
- Maintain relevant content through the review of relevant journals, abstracts, and scientific literature including underlying educational theories work/interact effectively with diverse populations showing respect and cultural sensitivity
Other Duties & Responsibilities
Departmental Duties:
- Attend and assist in planning Nursing Department meetings
- Assist in the development of program-specific policies as necessary and in alignment with University policies
- Prepare and submit reports on program activities, as necessary
- Assist in the BSN Program’s accreditation process with CCNE
University Duties:
- Participate in University activities such as faculty development activities, accreditation visits, convocations, commencements and celebrations
- Attend faculty meetings, faculty workshops, university and program committees as needed and other meetings as required
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
Experience and Education Requirements
Required:
- Registered nurse license in the state of Minnesota
- Graduate degree. If the Graduate degree is not in nursing, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is also required
- 3 years of clinical patient care experience as an RN
Preferred:
- 2 years of experience as a nurse educator in a clinical or teaching role
- Certified Nurse Educator (CNE)
May consider other acceptable equivalent combinations of training and experience.
Essential Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge and experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating nursing curriculum
- Demonstrated organizational skills, professionalism, innovation, mission-oriented, and student focused
- Expertise in teaching students in a variety of settings with basic proficiency in educational technology such as Canvas, Panopto, and ATI products
- Skilled in using technology and in engaging learners
- The ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team structure with other nursing faculty is an essential quality
- Alignment with the Careful Nursing Philosophy and Professional Practice Model© is highly valued
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Observes safety guidelines and follows safety procedures established by the university
Physical Demands
Medium work. Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
