The Opportunity:
Washington State University College of Nursing at WSU Tri-Cities is currently recruiting candidates to fill open rank, career-track, teaching faculty positions, in our pre-licensure BSN program. We are seeking applicants for Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor, who are passionate about teaching and working with students in a variety of learning environments, with the primary responsibility of teaching.
We are seeking candidates with clinical experience in all nursing specialties including:
- Long Term Care
- Medical Surgical
- Pediatrics
- Obstetrics
- Community Health Nursing
- Psychiatric Nursing

Job Duties:
College of Nursing Teaching faculty are responsible for:
- Teaching undergraduate PL-BSN students primarily in the clinical and laboratory setting, with potential didactic opportunities as available if desired.
- Teaching Assistant Professor is 100% teaching.
- Teaching Associate or Teaching Full Professor rank is 90% teaching and 10% professional and university service.
- Advising students.

This is a full-time (100% FTE), fixed-term position.
This position is overtime exempt.
This is an in-person/on-site role located on the WSU Tri-Cities College of Nursing building in Richland, WA.
The appointment term is 9-months, with start date of: August 16, 2026, through May 15, 2027, with the opportunity for a pre-academic appointment starting on August 1, 2026.
Academic Salary:
Teaching Assistant Professor Rank: $75,652.00 without doctoral; $92,063.00 with doctoral degree
Teaching Associate Professor Rank: $78,367.00 without doctoral; $104,678.00 with doctoral degree
Teaching Professor Rank: $94,951.00 without doctoral; $122,565.00 with doctoral degree
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
Required Qualifications for Teaching Assistant Professor, Teaching Associate Professor, and Teaching Professor Ranks:
- Earned Master's Degree in Nursing.
- Possess an unencumbered RN licensure in Washington State.
Additional required qualifications for Teaching Associate Professor Rank
- Currently serving in the rank of an Associate Professor or equivalent at a post-secondary institution, OR;
- At least 4 years of academic teaching experience with demonstrated expertise in academic advising, teaching, integration of theory and evidence-based practice in instructional approaches, demonstrated leadership, engagement and dissemination in local community, region, state or national professional or health-care related activities.
Additional required qualifications for Teaching Professor Rank
- Currently serving in the rank of a Full Professor or equivalent at a post-secondary institution, OR;
- At least eight (8) years of academic teaching experience and expertise and creativity as a master teacher in specialty areas in undergraduate and/or graduate courses, and
- Current national or international board certification as a Certified Nurse Educator or in a clinical area as required; Demonstrated mastery in integration of theory and evidence based practice activities into innovative instructional approaches; Demonstrated leadership in college or campus activities pursuing continuous quality improvement of nursing education and the nurse educator role; Demonstrated leadership in college activities, policy formation; Demonstrated effective leadership and increased dissemination & engagement in local regional, state or national activities.
Preferred Qualifications for All Ranks:
- Experience in teaching clinical and didactic courses and advising students.
- Experience with technology-assisted education modalities.
- Experience working with diverse populations and/or students.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize practice-based research studies to address salient nursing and health care issues.
- Nursing leadership experience and engagement in professional nursing organizations.
- Interdisciplinary/inter-professional collaboration in practice and/or education.
- Experience as a preceptor for prelicensure Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN).
