Program Description:

The Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program at City University of Seattle invites applications for a Full-Time Faculty position. This role is ideal for a licensed clinician and experienced educator who is committed to the values of systemic theory, cultural attunement, social justice, and ethical practice. The program is designed to meet the educational requirements for licensure in Washington and is pursuing accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE).

Job Summary:

Full-Time Faculty members play a vital role in shaping the student experience by engaging in meaningful teaching, offering dedicated support, contributing to curriculum innovation, and helping prepare the program for accreditation. Teaching faculty report to the Program Director and help cultivate a vibrant, student-centered learning environment. Our full-time faculty maintain a teaching load of 8 courses per year.

We are seeking a passionate educator and clinician. The ideal candidate will be an AAMFT Approved Supervisor (or Candidate) with an active LMFT license in Washington, who is committed to mentoring the next generation of MFTs. Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD in MFT or a related field and those with robust experience teaching in graduate-level MFT programs.

  • Inspire future MFTs through engaging online teaching that brings systemic practice to life.
  • Shape confident clinicians with supportive, growth-focused supervision.
  • Fuel a vibrant academic community by actively participating in meetings, advising, and admissions.
  • Elevate our curriculum by aligning it with COAMFTE standards and the CityU Academic Model.
  • Guide students toward success as they navigate internships, licensure, and ethical practice.
  • Grow boldly and ethically through continuous professional development.
  • Champion DEIB values by helping cultivate an inclusive, empowering learning environment.
  • Strengthen program excellence through committed engagement in accreditation and evaluation.
  • Deliver purposeful instruction with thoughtful planning, effective methods, and meaningful assessment.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's or doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a closely related field.
  • Licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Washington.
  • Eligible to become or already are an AAMFT Approved Supervisor or AAMFT Approved Supervisor Candidate status.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience working with couples and families.
  • Minimum of 2 years of graduate teaching experience in MFT or a related field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to systemic therapy, cultural responsiveness, and inclusive teaching practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree (PhD, DMFT, or EdD) in MFT or a closely related field.
  • Experience working with marginalized populations or in settings focused on social justice.
  • Expertise in areas such as clinical assessment, ethics, cultural humility, trauma, or contemporary couple therapy.
  • Familiarity with COAMFTE accreditation standards, particularly Version 12.5, and/or experience in accredited programs.
  • Expertise in the Person of the Therapist model.

Salary information:

$80,000 - $100,000/year DOE
