General Maintenance 2
Job Summary
Maintains, services, and conducts minor repairs on buildings and equipment. Performs a variety of semiskilled duties in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, or plastering. Assists maintenance engineers and other workers with their tasks. Complies with established safety guidelines and procedures. May require a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.
Responsibilities
The job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Under limited supervision, performs basic general maintenance & repairs to campus buildings & other facilities throughout the university.
- Performs inspections & routine maintenance, troubleshoot & repair various building environmental systems & associated components including heating, cooling, & ventilation systems. Coordinates with supervisors to schedule repairs & maintenance needs.
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, & maintain building plumbing systems including domestic hot & cold & sanitary sewer systems. Includes but not limited to, replacing fixtures, repairing leaks, replacing piping, clearing drains, & cleaning areas affected by leaks.
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, & maintain building electrical & lighting systems. Includes, but not limited to, lighting elements, ballasts, devices, fan motors, & circuit breakers. Provides routine & scheduled maintenance such as replacing bulbs, ballasts, & batteries.
- Perform basic carpentry tasks such as door repair & replacement, window repair & replacement, casework & signage repair & replacement.
- Maintains indoor & outdoor surfaces in regard to painting structures & objects, cleans surfaces, pressure washing, painting, & material repair & replacement.
- Install, repair & replace flooring & carpet.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
- May be responsible for training, assisting or assigning tasks to other lower level general maintenance positions.
- Perform all other duties/tasks as required.
Required Qualifications
High School diploma or GED from a recognized State or Federal accredited organization with three years of experience or Associates from an accredited college or university; Valid driver's license.
Other Required Qualifications
Moderate level of knowledge in general building maintenance and construction skills.
Preferred Qualifications
HVAC certification; pool and retention pond maintenance. Must be EPA Refrigerant Recovery Certified II or Universal Certified Pool Operator (CPO)

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days: Monday - Friday
Pay Band: 8
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
