Global Lawyering Skills Professor
Primary Purpose and Essential Functions:
The McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific, invites applications from exceptional entry-level and lateral candidates for up to three full-time faculty positions to commence at the start of the 2025-26 academic year. The candidates hired into these positions will teach some of their courses in the Global Lawyering Skills program, a three-semester program focused on legal research, writing, analysis, oral advocacy, and other lawyering skills. Candidates who are interested in teaching lawyering skills together with academic success and those with a background in library studies are strongly encouraged to apply. A record of teaching and scholarship is preferred, and all candidates should be eager to join a collegial, intellectually engaged, and student-oriented faculty. We anticipate that these positions will be offered based initially on term contracts but on a track to lead to an indefinite term contract. However, it is possible that a candidate with a strong scholarly record could be considered on a tenure track.
McGeorge law is a wonderful community with friendly people, a vibrant intellectual culture, and a beautiful campus. Our programs in international law, advocacy and dispute resolution, and government lawyering are innovative and well known. Our location in Sacramento, the capital of California, offers the opportunity to be part of a robust legal and policy-making community. As a relatively small city by California standards, Sacramento also has a close-knit legal community and a number of interesting residential neighborhoods, as well as a well-developed arts and restaurant scene.
McGeorge is an Equal Opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, or protected veteran status. The McGeorge faculty has committed itself to undertake the work to transform itself into an anti-racist law school. Applicants who share that vision, and particularly those who would enhance the racial or ethnic diversity of the faculty, are strongly urged to apply.
University of the Pacific recognizes that diversity, equity, and inclusion is foundational to the success of our valued students and employees.
