Position Summary
The Graduate Student Success Coordinator oversees academic advising and academic interventions for graduate students from the School of Business and Entrepreneurship, the College of Arts and Sciences, and graduate programs in Education. The coordinator facilitates a comprehensive academic support and engagement model that supports student achievement and growth, reflected in retention and persistence metrics across these graduate programs. They collaborate with constituents across campus to support an infrastructure for graduate student tutoring services in response to student and accreditation needs. The coordinator serves as liaison to Student Disability Services and Testing Services. They lead and facilitate Graduate Assistant orientation and programming. The coordinator establishes and maintains strong relationships with Program Directors, staff, and stakeholders involved in serving graduate students. Evening and weekend work may be required.
Description of Key Responsibilities
- Provide proactive and holistic academic advising, including degree planning and management as well as monitoring academic progress and maintaining detailed records.
- Oversee an orientation program responsive to the needs of a diverse graduate student population and the needs of their respective programs.
- Lead orientation for graduate assistants and support their continued academic and developmental success. Facilitate graduate assistant supervisor orientations and the development of supporting materials.
- Collaborate with campus partners to develop and support an infrastructure for graduate student tutoring services that is responsive to students’ needs and institutional accreditation efforts.
- Leverage alumni relationships for advising and career readiness programming.
- Promote teamwork and communication among campus departments engaged in efforts to promote student success, persistence, timely graduation, and career outcomes.
- Foster a graduate student support culture that is inclusive and which champions diverse students in the attainment of their graduate education.
- Create, deliver, and assess engagement opportunities that support holistic student development.
- Meet the needs of students in different degree programs and modalities: online, in-person, certificate, and degree.

Distinguishing Characteristics
The Graduate Student Success Coordinator works collaboratively with Student Success, inclusive of Student Disability Services, Testing, and Tutoring; Program Directors and Academic Deans; Admissions; HR; Registrar; and the Center for Career and Professional Development to understand and respond to graduate students’ needs. This position is responsible for developing and implementing programming, advising, and tutoring support for graduate students in CAS, SBE, and the department of Education. This position requires high energy and a passionate commitment to the holistic graduate student experience. The individual must be flexible and work cooperatively and flexibly with others, assisting other staff members in the performance of their work. The position requires interaction with faculty, students, and staff on a regular basis, both virtually and in person, to meet the needs of the diverse programs in these areas. Strong interpersonal skills are essential in developing programming and ensuring student engagement.
Education/Training
Education/Training: A bachelor’s degree required.
Experience
A minimum of two (2) years in an administrative support role and experience within an institution of higher education is preferred.
