OVERVIEW & HIGHLIGHTS

The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District is seeking a qualified individual as a Grounds Maintenance Worker, Lead. The incumbent under the direction of an assigned supervisor, manager or the guidance of an assigned lead position, perform a variety of complex grounds maintenance duties including specialized grounds maintenance work; assist in coordination of all campus landscape design and plant selection; install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems, coordinate all irrigation system watering cycles and audit irrigation system to determine most effective means; purchase, application and coordination all of toxic and hazardous chemicals for pest and insect, control both interior and exterior, and weed control and finish cement work. Work in this classification is distinguished from that of the Grounds Maintenance Worker Senior by the requirement to coordinate the workers, greater independence, auditing of entire campus irrigation systems, purchase coordination and scheduling of all hazardous materials and coordination and monitoring of interior pesticide applications and exercise of judgment and initiative in the performance of daily duties for all department members. ALL ABOUT THE JOB

AT-A-GLANCE POSITION INFORMATION:

This recruitment will establish an eligibility list valid for 6 months and will be used to fill current and future vacancies.

Type of position: Full-Time - Monday - Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Salary: Range CL-32

$25.41- $31.79 Hourly
$4,405 - $5,510 Monthly (based on 40 hours per week)
Initial Salary Placement: New employees start at Step A ($25.41 per hour) or Step B ($26.88 per hour) on the salary schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented by additional training in landscape technology or a related field.

EXPERIENCE: Increasingly responsible grounds or landscape maintenance experience.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

California Department of Pesticide Regulation Qualified Applicators license, Categories A & B (Landscape Maintenance) and continuing education to maintain license renewal.

Must be certified Landscape Technician in maintenance and irrigation.

Certified irrigation auditor.
