Job Description

Position Title: Groundskeeper Part-time

Department: Grounds & Operations

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Job Summary: The part-time groundskeeper performs maintenance and upkeep of university grounds, landscaping, parking lots, streets, and athletic fields.

Essential Job Duties

• Assists with the maintenance of university grounds, parking lots, streets, and athletic fields by mowing, landscaping, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, and patching with the aid of grounds maintenance equipment; including tractors, backhoes, skid loaders, dump trucks, and snow removal equipment; and picks up trash on grounds and streets and empties exterior campus waste receptacles.
• Picks up trash on grounds and streets; and empties exterior campus waste receptacles.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; and grounds keeping experience.
• Experience driving large equipment.
• Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Able to operate mowing and turf equipment.
• Knowledge of operating heavy equipment, tractors, dump trucks, and skid loaders.
• Able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
• Able to operate a weed eater, chain saw, blowers, and other hand power tools.
• Able to pick up trash, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to work outside in the heat and cold.
• Good communication skills and safety minded.

Physical Demands

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Additional Demands

Hours of Work: Hours: 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
