Head Coach, Bowling and Assistant Athletic Director, Recreation
Position Summary
The Bowling Head Coach is responsible for conducting a comprehensive, high quality NCAA Division I athletic program within the guidelines of all rules and policies established by the department, the institution, the Conference, and the NCAA. This includes assessing, implementing, and evaluating strategies to enhance team and individual athletic and academic performance in accordance with the stated mission of Le Moyne College and the Athletic Department. This Head Coach is charged with creating an environment advancing the “Inside the L” culture of wholistic personal growth and development of the student-athlete. Additionally, this role serves as an assistant director of recreation supporting the programmatic areas of intramural sports and health and wellness classes through planning, scheduling and marketing of classes and tournaments.
Daily duties and tasks which require exercising discretion and independent judgment consisting of 60% instructional and 40% recruitment/administrative/fiscal management tasks split 50% to head coaching duties for bowling and 50% assistant director duties for recreation.
Principal Duties and Essential Functions
Coaching and Team Development:
- Assess, implement and evaluate strategies that enhances team and individual performance.
- Provide timely and constructive individualized feedback for student-athlete improvement.
- Prepare individuals and the team for competition, focused on high-level performance and sportsmanship.
Recreation:
- Attend campus student events to promote and market intramural sports and health and wellness classes
- Attend campus enrollment events to market recreation activities to prospective students and families
- Supervise and schedule health and wellness classes
- Supervise and schedule intramural events, including the hiring of student officials
- Regularly poll and survey the student body to understand current trends and demands in the recreation space
Sports Performance:
- Submits all paperwork, schedule meetings and respond to all information requests from athletic trainers and team physicians according to guidelines and deadlines established by the Head Athletic Trainer.
- All decisions regarding the health and safety of student athletes when it comes to physical participation is at the discretion of the Head Athletic Trainer.
- Coordinates with the Peak Performance Team (Strength and Conditioning, Sports Medicine, Nutrition, Mental Health) on the conduct of a comprehensive training program to enhance both personal and performance growth/development.
Game Management:
Works with appropriate personnel to determine your needs for the organization, coordination, and scheduling of all home and away contests including: facility and equipment set-up, officials, scorekeepers, statisticians, media considerations, lodging, meals, travel arrangements, etc.
NCAA Compliance:
- Conducts program in compliance with all applicable NCAA, conference, and institutional policies, rules and regulations.
- Ensures timely submission of all compliance related work flows through ARMS to maintain the highest levels of integrity and transparency.
- Maintains open and responsive communications with the Associate Director of Student Athlete Success and NCAA Compliance.
- Maintains up to date certification in all required areas (NCAA DI Institute Modules, 1st Aid/CPR/AED Training, Etc).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree highly desirable.
- 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in the conduct of a collegiate level Bowling program with proven success in recruiting high quality student athletes and/or equivalent related experiences.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply NCAA and NEC conference rules as they pertain to the Bowling program.
- The successful candidate will be required to be First Aid/CPR/AED certified and to complete all required NCAA DI Institute modules prior to being able to participate in off campus recruiting activities and countable athletically related activities.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills needed.

Pay Range
$50,000 - $60,000 annually
