Head Coach, Club Cheerleading
This is a part-time position scheduled to work varied hours from September through June. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Preparing, organizing and attending all practice sessions, football & basketball games, performances, and appearances. Could also include select games in other sports. Producing choreography for routines and cheers. Monitoring tryout and recruitment activities; executing an exercise and conditioning program; providing coaching services and professional support at all away games/events, including traveling with the squad to and from events. Responsibilities also involve coordinating with supervisor on ordering and inventorying supplies and uniforms. Comply with the American Association of Cheerleader Coaches & Advisors safety guidelines and standards and must maintain AACCA certification. Provide support and advisement to other spirit activities. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, administrators, and alumni; and other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor. Evening and weekend hours are necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree, preferred
- 2-3 years of cheerleading coaching experience at the club and/or high school level or higher; collegiate cheerleading experience preferred
- Must Have AACCA spirit safety certification before commencing employment
- Comply with the American Association of Cheerleader Coaches & Advisors safety guidelines & standards
- Prior experience as a cheerleader, helpful
- AED/CPR & First Aid Certification required
- Strong cheerleading knowledge and background
- Demonstrated ability to work with and relate well to students
- Excellent sport specific technical, tactical and strategic knowledge
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills necessary
- Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Basic proficiency in excel, word, internet & email capabilities.
- The successful candidate for this position will be required to complete a criminal background and DMV check satisfactory to Brown University prior to commencing employment.
All division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; the duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA, Ivy League rules and regulations; and any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the division are to be reported to the compliance office and appropriate parties. Employees in coaching positions must receive annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting by the compliance office and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division).
