Required Qualifications:
- High school graduation or GED.
- Ability to communicate and understand verbal and written instructions in English.
- Experience in working in any of the following: custodial, hospitality, environmental services, warehouse, production, or facilities maintenance.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry items weighing up to 30 lbs. unassisted and 50 pounds assisted.
- Walk 3-5 miles daily and access all areas of the building in a timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supervising staff members.
- Experience providing professional cleaning methods and techniques, including measuring and mixing cleaning chemicals.
- Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Bilingual, English & Spanish.
- Ability to provide excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Job Description:
The Head Custodian position provides leadership, coordination, and supervision of custodial operations at Texas State Housing Facilities to ensure a clean and safe environment. The head custodian supervises full-time staff that service student residential facilities.
Job Duties:
Custodial Services:
- Directly supervise a custodial staff team and perform various cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning windows, and removing trash.
- Provide floor care, including shampooing carpets, carpet extraction, using automatic scrubbers, and stripping and finishing floors.
- Ensure that assigned facilities are maintained in a clean and safe condition
On-Call & Emergency Management
- Serve as a member of the departmental on-call rotation to provide support to students after hours.
- Provide emergency response and clean up for floods and other custodial emergencies.
- Fill in as required for other crew members and substitute for absent co-workers as needed.
- Perform set-ups and breakdowns for special events.
- Mandatory overtime may be required with little or no advance notice.
- Other duties as assigned.
Administration:
- Performs quality control inspections and documentation.
- Manage staff performance.
- Process and review time reports, inspection reports, absence documentation,
