Head of Cricket and Club Development Lead

Summary

To lead cricket operations. Drive performance, participation, and profitability to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of Stratford Sports Club. Improve on-field performance; develop junior and academy programmes; attract sponsorship and grants; boost membership and retention; introduce data, KPIs and Performance Reviews; recruit and retain players; enhance Club’s reputation and brand; and align Cricket Strategy with the Club’s Business Goals.

Role Purpose

Increase club revenue through programming, membership growth, and events. Improve quality and professionalism in coaching, operations, and member services. Develop greater visibility in the local community and stronger relationships with local schools and partners. Enhance volunteer retention and recruitment through improved structure and communication. And drive a year-round, integrated sports club experience that supports social and competitive play for all ages.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cricket Strategy and Delivery

  • Lead all cricket operations: coaching, player development, and talent pathways.
  • Deliver high-performance programmes across junior, academy and senior levels.
  • Manage facilities, equipment, coaching staff, and fixture planning.

2. Operations and Administration

  • Lead operational planning and scheduling.
  • Develop team captains in aligning facility usage, training timetables, and match days.
  • Deliver successful cricket processes – such as structured training, coach development, and player pathways.
  • Facilitate collaborative sessions to improve communication and share best practices.

3. Community Engagement

  • Lead outreach initiatives in local schools and community organisations.
  • Organise holiday camps, and introductory sessions.
  • Champion inclusive programmes that encourage broader participation and support underrepresented groups in sport.

4. Sponsorship and Revenue Generation

  • Develop sponsorship and fundraising packages.
  • Plan and deliver events to drive member engagement and attract sponsors.
  • Support income generation through coaching sessions and seasonal camps.

5. Governance and Compliance

  • Ensure safeguarding, inclusion, and health & safety policies are embedded.
  • Assist with DBS checks, insurance, data protection, and volunteer coordination.
  • Meet ECB standards, and relevant governing body accreditations.

Person Specification

  • Exemplary leadership skills, with extensive experience in the business of sport
  • An influencer with an extensive network of contacts
  • Detailed knowledge of the Sports Development framework
  • An obsessive eye for detail i.e. effective planning and organisational skills
  • Comprehensive commercial acumen with grant application experience
  • Vast technical and tactical knowledge, minimum level two ECB coach
