Are you a strategic leader looking for a high-impact role at the heart of one of the world’s leading academic environments? The Medical Sciences Division is seeking a Head of Strategic Planning and Delivery to join our senior leadership team. This is a varied and challenging role where you will influence the direction and success of the University’s largest academic division.
As the Head of Strategic Planning and Delivery, you will support the creation and execution of divisional strategies and plans. You will work closely with the Divisional Registrar, the Head of Division, Heads of Department and senior University officers—to influence strategic thinking and its implementation.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Strategic Leadership: Leading the annual update of the Division’s Strategic Plan and policy formulation, with a focus on resources and infrastructure.
- Project Oversight: Overseeing the MSD Project Management Office (PMO) and the Building Operations team to ensure the successful delivery of critical initiatives and operational models.
- Estates & Capital Programmes: Leading the development of the Division’s estates strategy, including the multi-million pound capital programme and the academic growth of land recently acquired in Headington.
- Resource Allocation: Providing a strategic planning perspective to annual budget setting and supporting long-term financial sustainability across the Division.
- Senior Representation: Acting as the Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) for major strategic projects and representing the division on key University committees.
We are looking for an individual with an engaging leadership style and the intellectual weight to gain the trust and confidence of stakeholders at all levels. You will have:
- An honours degree or equivalent qualification with strong analytical and intellectual skills.
- Senior management experience in planning, resource allocation finance, and project delivery.
- Excellent communication and negotiating skills, with the ability to handle a complex portfolio in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment.
