The Health & Wellness Adjunct Instructors - Life Enrichment are part of CCBCs School of Continuing Education which offers classes with a focus on life enrichment, workforce development, and community education. Classes are offered to engage students at every stage of life and new and exciting courses are constantly being developed to inspire our students.
The part time adjunct Health and Wellness Instructor teaches college level non-credit courses to adult students that focus on a diverse range of topics that cater to different aspects of physical and mental well-being. Topics include, but are not limited to, yoga, tai chi, Pilates and meditation, physical fitness, aerobics & cardio exercise, mindfulness & stress reduction, martial arts, alternative health & holistic healing, social-emotional wellness, self-care, self-empowerment, family education & advocacy, traditional sports, outdoor recreation, environmental health & sustainability, health education, animal care, and much more! All classes are imagined, designed, and led by the instructor who teaches, on average, 1-3 classes per semester.
Classes are offered during the day, evening, or weekend hours, at Catonsville, Dundalk, Essex, Owings Mills, Randallstown, and/or Hunt Valley campuses. Courses are offered primarily in-person along with limited online remote classes.
Health and Wellness Instructors are hired throughout the academic year and teach classes on a semester cycle. Applicants will be reviewed prior to the scheduling of new classes.
Pay rates for non-credit courses in Continuing Education are commensurate with education and relevant work experience.
Minimum Requirements
- Must possess a High School diploma or GED. Academic degrees or professional credentials in a related discipline preferred.
- Must be a subject matter expert with demonstrated knowledge relevant to the courses being taught.
- Possession of relevant certifications or credentials (if applicable) required to teach the courses being taught.
- Experience teaching or training in an adult setting preferred.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Experience working with a diverse population.

Class Specific Essential Duties
- Curriculum Development – Design and update course materials to align with class learning objectives.
- Planning and Prep – Develop lesson plans and organize all instructional materials, resources, and technology needed for in-person and/or online instruction.
- Communication – Maintain open channels of communication with students, administrators, and coordinators regarding course updates and concerns.
- Instruction – Deliver engaging and effective classroom or online instructions utilizing a diverse range of teaching methods.
- Administrative Tasks – Complete all required administrative duties on-time, including maintaining and submitting all attendance data and required paperwork by the due date.
