Job Description
University of Hawai‘i, Kapi‘olani Community College, Office of Health Academic Program, is seeking applications for the Health Education Non-Credit Instructor (Casual Hire).
Important note: Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University of Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees (i.e. paid holidays/leave). Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Salary: Range - $20.00 - $65.00 per hour. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Schedule: Up to 19 hours per week

Continuation is dependent on satisfactory performance, program needs, and renewal of funds.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under general supervision, teach courses assigned.
- Develop curriculum and teach continuing education health classes. Subjects include but are not limited to the following: Medical Coding, Medical Billing, Adult Residential Care Home, Emergency Medical Services, Phlebotomy, Massage Therapy (basic & specialized), Optometry Assistant, Certified Dental Assistant, Community Dental Health Coordinator/Instructor, Pharmacy Technician, Certified Nurse Aide, Surgical Technology, and School Health Aide.
- Evening classes, weekend classes, and distance education classes may be assigned as part of the assignment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and to teach for a variety of audiences, including adult learners.
- Teaching assignment is as needed and dependent upon course enrollment
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Certificate and/or license, associate or bachelor's degree in the appropriate subject area, when applicable; or equivalent combination of education/training and job-related experience
- Knowledge, skills, ability, and expertise are required in the field.
- Must be able to provide a course proposal, description, and syllabus detailing the student outcomes.

Desirable Qualifications:
- Teaching experience at the community college or university level
- Demonstrated ability to work with adult and non-traditional learners
- Experience teaching in an online setting
