The Department of Neurology at the University of California, Los Angeles are recruiting for a new faculty position for further expansion of our clinical and research programs. The primary work site is at Olive View Medical Center (LA County Facility) which is 25 miles from UCLA main campus, with an expectation of an average of 40 hours per week at this site. Olive View responsibilities include outpatient clinics in general neurology, inpatient attending for Neurology consult service, reviewing eConsults for appropriateness for clinic visits and providing advice for treatment/workup. On call for the neurology service covering the ER and inpatient service on average up to 12 weeks per year, but subject to clinical and department needs. The provider will also perform and interpret EMG/NCV, and assist with EEG reading and standby EEG call at Olive View. As part of this position, the provider will also be required to serve on the UCLA Neurology education committee as a representative of OVMC. Additional opportunities at UCLA main campus include outpatient clinic, inpatient neurology service, and committee work, but are not required.
Requirements & Job Summary:
The successful applicant must have obtained a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD or equivalent degree(s) and completed a neurology residency. Completion of an appropriate subspecialty fellowship program, in neurophysiology is preferred. The applicant will participate in the clinical, teaching, and research activities of the UCLA Neurology Department.
Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
- Possess a MD, DO or MD/PhD or equivalent
- Strong teaching abilities
- Demonstrated strong communication skills to work collaboratively with other disciplines, specialties, and neurological subspecialties.
- Experience and competence in interpreting EEG
- Experience and competence in performing and interpret EMG/NCV
- Experience in working with underserved populations
- Scholarly track record with demonstrated clinical research experience and publications
- Demonstrated ability to speak and understand Spanish
- Demonstrated leadership experience
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
- California medical license or licensure eligibility
- Board certified/eligible in Neurology by the ABPN
- Board certified/eligible in Clinical Neurophysiology
The salary range for this position is $140,600 to $250,000 with the opportunity for higher earnings contingent on performance-based incentives. This position includes/may include membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment.
