Heersink School of Medicine-Open Rank-Radiology-Abdominal Imaging
Fully remote, hybrid and/or in-person Faculty Radiologist Position in Abdominal Imaging at The University of Alabama at Birmingham
The Department of Radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a radiologist to join the abdominal imaging section. UAB is a state-of-the-art quaternary care medical center located in the vibrant city of Birmingham, Alabama.
In-person, hybrid, and fully remote employment opportunities are available. A home workstation will be provided.
An established record of scholarly work is valued but not required. Both academic and 100% clinical positions are available. This role involves working with and teaching residents and fellows.
In line with our department's commitment to work-life balance and flexibility, there are several positions available to suit the candidate's preferences:
- 2 PM – 10 PM CST evening shifts (remote): 7 days on, 7 days off
- 5 days a week M-F (on-site, hybrid, or remote 8 AM CST – 5 PM CST) with approximately 1-day nonclinical time/week for academic track: very few required weekends (4 or less)
- 7 on/14 off (in person, image guided procedure work strongly preferred): 8a-5p Central
Per-click and scheduled shift-based voluntary moonlighting are available for additional income.
The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills to interpret CT, MRI, US and perform abdominal interventional procedures. UAB offers engaging opportunities for active participation in teaching, research, and service. Faculty members also enjoy strong collaboration with other departments. The abdominal imaging section has a strong tradition of mentoring to help each faculty member identify career goals and develop academically. Opportunities exist for both educational and research pursuits.
Applicants should be ABR-Certified or have passed the Core Examination and be on track to take the Certifying Examination. Fellowship training or established strong competency in abdominal and must be eligible to practice medicine in Alabama.

Academic rank, compensation, and tenure will depend on qualifications and experience.
