"History of the United States Since 1865, Department of Education and Integrative Studies - Adjunct Faculty"

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on-site in the History program in Holloman Air Force Base, NM. Specifically, we are seeking faculty for the following course:

History of the United States Since 1865 (HIST 157):

A survey of economic, intellectual, political, and social developments since the Civil War. The objective is to use primary and secondary sources to describe U.S. historical events and interpret current events and ideas in a historical context. Discussion covers the rise of industry and the emergence of the United States as a world power.

Required Education and Experience:

• A Masters degree in History or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning, doctorate preferred
• Professional experience in History
• Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred
• This position is designated to teach onsite at Holloman Air Force Base, NM.

Your role as an adjunct faculty member will be to:

• Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed, and conveys a genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning
• Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based learning demonstrations
• Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledging student accomplishments
• Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program
• Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements
