History: Visiting Assistant Professor of United States History – NEW!

The History Department at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of United States History. This is a full-time, one-year position beginning July 1, 2026. Position and Qualifications
The teaching load for the year will be six classes (typically three classes per semester). Teaching responsibilities will include a variety of courses at the introductory and advanced level and helping with the supervision of senior theses in the candidate’s area of expertise. Field of specialization is open, but the ideal candidate will be prepared to teach either half of the U.S. history survey.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in history in hand by July 1, 2026. The successful applicant will show a strong commitment to teaching at a liberal arts institution and demonstrate the ability to teach students from a broad range of backgrounds.

Screening of candidates will begin on March 1, 2026 and will continue until the position is filled.

- Three letters of recommendation (at least one of which must focus specifically on the candidate’s teaching experience and abilities)
