Visiting Assistant Professor of Latin American History

The Department of History in the School of Arts & Sciences at the University of Richmond invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Latin American History to begin on August 18, 2026.

We seek a teacher-scholar who shares our commitment to highly effective teaching at all levels of the curriculum. The successful candidate will teach three courses in the fall and three courses in the spring semester, which may include but are not limited to Colonial Latin America and Modern Latin America.

The Department of History at the University of Richmond is committed to the rigorous study of the past as a vital humanistic discipline. Faculty and students engage in historical inquiry through critical analysis and careful interpretation, emphasizing the value of historical thinking for understanding power, difference, continuity, and change in a global context. The department values research-informed teaching, close faculty-student engagement, and mentorship that foster critical thinking.

A Ph.D. in History is required by the time of appointment. Scholars of all chronological, thematic, and methodological emphases are welcome to apply.
