Responsibilities
- Compiles data from a variety of sources including interviews, literature sources, and medical and genealogical records.
- Enters information into department's computer system.
- Assists researchers in performing both quantitative and qualitative data analyses in SAS, Excel, NVIVO and other programs.
- Assists researchers by preparing manuscripts and presentation materials by creating slides, charts, graphs and handouts.
- Searches sources such as reference works, documents, statistical records and evaluates applicability of collected data to research subject.
- May assist in data collection including observing and coding meeting behaviors, creation of questionnaires, and interacting with study participants.
- Drafts correspondence to answer inquiries and responds to requests from agencies about specific projects.
- Edit research papers, project reports, proposals and curriculum materials prior to publication or presentation.
- Prepares format for final disposition of data and arranges for the printing and graphic art requirements for printed materials.
- Maintains an internal library on project information resources and final data collected.
- Works with research personnel in the design and preparation and recruitment for research projects and in recording data.
- Schedules appointments, visits, and meetings for meeting participants and clients.
Research Assistant, I
Administrative tasks in support of the clinical research program or laboratory. Tasks will vary by department and research category. Typically, manages the front desk, organizes files, and performs other clerical duties associated with research studies and programs. Recruits participants, verifies eligibility, and enrolls subjects. Schedules participant visits and maintains records. Transports samples or laboratory equipment. Monitors inventory levels and orders supplies. Tasks will vary by department and research category. Requires little to no related experience. This is an Entry-Level position in the Support track. Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience). Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels: Research Assistant, I: Requires little to no related experience. Research Assistant, II: Requires at least 1 year of related experience. Research Assistant, III: Requires 3+ years of related experience.
