James Madison University's Facilities Management department is seeking a dedicated and experienced Night Shift Housekeeping Assistant Manager. This position is scheduled Sunday - Thursday, 10:30 p.m. - 7:00 a.m., with occasional required overtime. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing housekeeping operations, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, and customer service across campus facilities. This is an essential position. The employee will be required to work their regular shift even during JMU-authorized closures to ensure continuity of operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and support supervisors and multiple housekeeping staff.
- Ensure daily housekeeping services meet JMU standards and that staff have the tools, equipment, and PPE needed.
- Provide guidance on policies, procedures, and administrative tasks, including inventory and supply management.
- Act as a liaison between supervisors and management, ensuring consistent communication, support, and resources.
- Develop and provide staff training, address performance issues, and maintain fair and consistent leadership.
- Monitor work orders, schedules, and budgets to ensure operations are efficient and cost-effective.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA standards and JMU policies.
- This is an essential position; the employee is required to work their regular shift during JMU-authorized closures.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Knowledge of housekeeping operations, policies, and OSHA requirements.
- Ability to plan, organize, and oversee multiple projects and events simultaneously.
- Experience managing staff, training, and performance evaluations.
- Ability to problem-solve and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficiency with computer software, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Applicants must be at least 19 years old, possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 24 months, and have an acceptable motor vehicle report.
