Identity and Access Management Analyst - ITS - University at Albany
Job Description
Information Technology Services (ITS) at the University at Albany seeks individuals with the skills and desire to work in a dynamic and complex hybrid on-premises/cloud environment as an Identity and Access Management Analyst (IAM Analyst). This position is part of the group responsible for helping protect the university's systems, network and data by supporting critical services for account provisioning, deprovisioning, authentication and authorization.
The IAM Analyst collaborates with people and groups across the university, including other ITS service teams and key campus offices (Human Resources, Registrar, Financial Aid). The IAM Analyst will help in modernizing and improving processes, contribute to complex strategic projects and other strategic work beyond daily support activities. The successful candidate is highly organized, attentive to detail, and adept at working independently or as part of a team.
This role is designated as an Essential Employee.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced administrative PeopleSoft support, including executing security change requests, managing and auditing role-based access controls, processing and resolving duplicate ID conflicts, and overseeing deprovisioning activities.
- Perform account administration activities, including account and access provisioning, auditing for compliance with security policies and standards, faculty and staff terminations, department transfers, student academic life cycles, and exception processing.
- Manage multi-factor authentication (MFA) services, including policy updates, threat monitoring, implementation of new Duo Security features, and assisting users with MFA enrollment and device configuration.
- Assist and train student assistants.
- Provide Tier 2 support for identity and access issues.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple and changing priorities. Provide scheduled support and consultation outside normal business hours, including occasional evenings, holidays, or weekends, within reasonable professional obligation and expectation. Report to campus in-person on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and as needed. This position is eligible to telecommute on Tuesdays and Thursdays, following a probationary period and with supervisor approval.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education (DOE) or internationally recognized accrediting organization; or an associate's degree and a minimum of 3 years in information technology roles.
- At least 2 years of experience managing identity and access functions, such as account provisioning and de-provisioning.
- Experience working with application security configurations with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms such as PeopleSoft.
- Experience with directory services, including account and group security and structure.
- Experience with multi-factor authentication services.
- Demonstrated ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.
- Demonstrated ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging, relative to their role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
- Experience in higher education.
- Experience with cloud-based identity and access management operations.
- Experience with project management.
- Experience with IT Service Management practices.

Professional Rank and Salary Grade: Assistant for University Systems Analysis, SL-4, $85,000-$90,000. Special Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
