Offer Description
PhD position (m/f, 1 position) for a fixed term of five (5) years for the purpose of obtaining the academic degree of Doctor of Science.
The PhD candidate will work in the field of experimental research conducted within the Quantum Technologies Group at the Centre for Advanced Laser Techniques. The research topic will be optically induced photonic lattices in rubidium atomic vapor.
The PhD candidate will be supervised by prof. Damir Aumiler (aumiler@ifs.hr).
Research methods include laser spectroscopy, generation of two-dimensional optical lattices using a spatial light modulator, as well as theoretical description of atom-laser light interactions and light propagation in a nonlinear medium.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate a strong motivation for the laboratory work related to the proposed research topic and to be fluent in English, both in speaking and writing.
Preference will be given to applicants who have previously demonstrated excellence and independence in scientific work (e.g., awards, scholarships, published scientific papers, participation at conferences), as well as to those with practical experience in the research methods mentioned above.
Mandatory requirements: Completed undergraduate and graduate studies in physics or an equivalent qualification, and eligibility for enrollment in a doctoral program in physics.
