Offer Description
The main duties of the person employed in this position will include, but will not be limited to:
- Independently shaping, conducting and developing scientific activities in the field of exact and natural sciences, particularly in the discipline of chemical sciences or related disciplines, with particular emphasis on analytical chemistry applied to the study of materials and processes related to materials engineering.
- Initiating and developing new research directions in line with the profile of the Laboratory of Materials Engineering and Mechatronics, particularly in the areas of the development and characterization of advanced materials; the identification and determination of components, contaminants and transformation products occurring in materials; as well as the application of advanced analytical methods in interdisciplinary research.
- Developing and implementing advanced analytical and instrumental methods, particularly chromatographic, spectroscopic and mass spectrometry-based techniques, as well as developing, optimizing and validating innovative analytical procedures for the characterization of materials and the assessment of their properties, quality and durability.
- Shaping the Laboratory’s research strategy by monitoring global trends in the development of science and technology, identifying promising research areas, and initiating interdisciplinary projects combining chemical sciences with materials engineering, environmental sciences, measurement technologies and mechatronics.
- Coordinating research activities conducted at the Laboratory and providing scientific supervision including ensuring the quality and appropriate interpretation of the results obtained.
- Securing funding for scientific activities, in particular by preparing grant proposals and initiating, planning and implementing research projects, including interdisciplinary, national and international projects.
- Developing scientific and expert cooperation with research institutions, universities, research institutes, laboratories, public administration bodies and business entities, particularly in the areas of environmental analysis and food safety.
- Initiating, establishing and developing interdisciplinary research groups, including integrating researchers with diverse research expertise, defining the directions and objectives of the groups’ activities, and coordinating their scientific, project and publication activities.
- Providing scientific supervision and mentoring to doctoral students, early-career researchers and members of research teams, and supporting their scientific development.
- Participating in educational and training activities, as required by the needs of the organizational unit, including delivering lectures, seminars, training courses and workshops.
- Preparing and publishing research results in renowned scientific journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR), particularly in the field of chemical sciences, and presenting research findings at scientific conferences and seminars.

- Practical skills: practical experience in instrumental analytical techniques, such as: HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS/MS, ICP-MS, UV-Vis spectroscopy and FTIR;
- Additional qualifications: experience gained during research stays abroad, including postdoctoral fellowships, as well as experience in managing research projects;
- Primary place of employment: designation of the IIAC PAS as the candidate’s primary place of employment.
Desirable qualifications:
- experience in leading national and/or international research grants;
- a proposal for an individual or team research project.

Selection process
List of Documents Required from Candidates:
- an application for employment addressed to the Director of the Institute, including a brief description of their research plans;
- an academic curriculum vitae (CV) and a cover letter;
- a certified copy of the diploma confirming the award of a postdoctoral degree (habilitation) / doctoral degree (PhD);
- a list of scientific achievements (publications, patents, conference presentations), together with information on the applicable ministerial points awarded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW) and bibliometric indicators (e.g. h-index);
- a signed data protection information and consent form (information on the processing of personal data for recruitment purposes);
- a declaration that, if successful in the competition, MIChA PAS will be the candidate's primary place of employment.
