Instruction Services Librarian
Boston College Libraries seeks an Instruction Services Librarian. This person will bring an innovative, energetic and collaborative approach to their work as well as knowledge and expertise in teaching information and digital literacy skills. Reporting to the Head Librarian, Instruction Services this position is part of the Library Research and Educational Initiatives Department. This person provides library instructional services in a robust program for First-Year Writing Seminar students and collaborates with faculty on library course objectives and student learning outcomes.
Additionally, this person provides library instructional services to other programs as needed, including Messina College, Woods College of Advancing Studies, and First-Year Experience. This person coordinates Reference Services and hires, trains, and supervises Reference Assistants in collaboration with the Boston College Libraries Reference Team. This person keeps abreast of current trends in pedagogy, learning theory, instructional theory, teaching technologies and instructional design. This person works with all library instructors on teaching effectiveness and assessment and is committed to working collaboratively and providing a cohesive library instruction program that relies on meaningful assessment of the impact of library teaching on student learning.
Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and full-time equivalent hiring ranges:
- Senior Librarian: $76,050 - $95,050; 5+ years related professional experience
- Librarian: $68,950 - $86,200; 3-5 years related professional experience
- Associate Librarian: $62,350 - $77,950; 1-3 years experience
Requirements: MLS required. Experience in: Creating and delivering library Instruction Services in person and virtually, Instructional design and learning theories, Course management systems, Project management, Application of teaching and pedagogical theory.
