Our digital learning department collaborates with faculty to develop digital courses that optimize student learning. By expanding and delivering our offerings in a variety of modalities, we are changing the way our students experience online education. Our digital learning teams focus on three overarching course design goals: creating synergies for minimizing transactional distance, incorporating diverse opportunities for learning connections and designing active and applied digital learning experiences.

Your Role on the Team
Under general supervision, the Instructional Technologist, Support & Applications specializes in technical course delivery support that promotes the successful facilitation of learning experiences at the Merage School. This role works independently and in collaboration with instructional design and instructional media professionals to organize course content and leads special projects/initiatives that are moderate in scope and complexity. Applies organization policies, procedures, and objectives in their work to meet program and/or course needs among various functions and departments. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions. The incumbent serves as an instructional and student support resource for courses utilizing instructional technology for a variety of delivery formats. The incumbent will be knowledgeable in digital teaching and learning best practices and be skilled both administratively and technically to actively support instructors using the Canvas LMS and/or other corresponding learning technology tools. Additionally, the Instructional Technologist, Support & Applications will support the management and integration of the department's educational technology ecosystem, which include, but not limited to, training, demonstrations, and/or creating support documentation/communication. The incumbent will also serve as a course's primary liaison between faculty and teaching assistants, students, the program office, Canvas support services, learning technology administrators, and/or course designers.
Note: This is a one-year contract position with a potential for extension.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required:
- Working knowledge of functional area and understands how work within one course may impact work being done on other courses or in other areas.
- Demonstrated analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, collaboration and negotiation skills.
- Working knowledge of organization policies and procedures, including policies that impact online course development.
- Working knowledge of instructional design principles and learning strategies, including needs analysis, backwards design, learning outcomes and assessment design, and instructional approaches including lecture, discussion, activities, projects, etc.
- Working knowledge of the technical tools and platforms required to achieve the delivery of engaging and media-rich online learning content, and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and learning.
- Working knowledge and skills with relevant business software systems and cloud-based systems.
- Working knowledge of learning theories and education methodologies.
- Working knowledge of e-learning strategies including but not limited to courses (e.g., processes and technologies, etc.).
- Proficiency in planning, resourcing and monitoring effective design life cycles of training and other learning and performance solutions to support the organization.
- Technical and professional experience using and supporting faculty and students using a learning management system, preferably Canvas learning management system by Instructure, and integrated technologies.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- 1-3 years of experience in the instructional design / educational technology field.
- 1-3 years of experience supporting faculty in preparation for and during course delivery with instructional and technical design, development, delivery and support-related requests.
Preferred:
- Experience working on cross-functional teams with media producers, learning experience designers, and other instructional technologists.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $31.47- $37.38 (Hourly).
