Job Summary

CCRI Division of Workforce Partnerships is seeking qualified applicants for part-time, temporary English Reading and Writing instructors for the 2025 Fall semester for the CCRI Advantage program. CCRI Advantage is an innovative program that helps associate degree-seeking CCRI students get a strong start in college. The goal of the program is to help students prepare for college-level coursework and to meet CCRI's proficiency milestones prior to starting credit-bearing courses in their first semester of college. The program will also repeat at the start of the Spring 2026 semester. Current programs are offered in Warwick and Providence. The CCRI Advantage Program runs Monday – Thursday from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm. Classes run for 7 weeks. Recruitment is for an 8-week opening and will include a preparation week prior to the start of classes.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Instruct CCRI Advantage English Reading and Writing courses.
• Work with students with various learning styles, cultures, and life experiences.
• Work alongside the lead facilitator and embedded tutor to deliver effective lesson plans and provide supplemental material to achieve course objectives and address student needs.
• Assist in keeping track of students' attendance and progress.
• Collaborate with the director, core facilitator, and other instructors in the program.
• Demonstrate a commitment to professional development in adult education.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in English or related field.
• Relevant teaching experience in an education setting.
• Experience teaching developmental and/or adult education classes.
• Deep understanding of oral and written communication challenges for adult students.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
• Knowledge of successful strategies for classroom management, especially in terms of linguistically and culturally diverse students.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Creativity and flexibility in the classroom.
