The Medical College of Georgia (MCG), Department of Ophthalmology at Augusta University (AU) is seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of Instructor. The selected candidate will be dedicated to the education and development of outstanding clinicians in alignment with core competencies, including patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, and systems-based practice. The position offers opportunities to teach medical students and residents and to participate in scholarly activities. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track and limited to one fiscal year.
Responsibilities
The position comprises a clinical appointment in the Department of Ophthalmology at a level commensurate with credentials and experience. The Ophthalmologist would participate in committees, present cases in the case conferences, manage patient workups and procedures according to department guidelines, and adopt any tools and/or technologies deemed part of the University.

Required Qualifications
MD, DO or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university. Must have or be eligible for a Georgia medical license. Board-certified or board certified eligible in Ophthalmology.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
