The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is currently accepting applications for the faculty position of Instructor, Mathematics, Foothill College.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:
Under the direction of the Dean of Science, Math, Engineering and Technology. Primary area(s) of teaching: In-person and on campus courses in Calculus I, Calculus II, and Statistics.
As a Full-Time Faculty member at Foothill College, faculty are expected to teach a variety of mathematics classes primarily on campus but could include online teaching assignments. Teaching assignments will include both in-person instruction at Foothill campus and possible online instruction. Faculty are expected to engage in professional contributions on the Foothill campus throughout the academic year.
Applicants need to be well versed in AB 1705 and understand the supports and pedagogical techniques needed to teach introductory transfer-level math classes as well as courses in calculus, statistics, linear algebra, differential equations, and discrete mathematics. The mathematics department offers a wide variety of classes, and the department's need is for these faculty to be fluent and able to teach any course we offer. The department is committed to its core values of equity and inclusion, and needs faculty to help the department in its goal to create culturally relevant curriculum, make students feel like they belong, and teach with an equity and growth mindset.
Standard duties expected of all faculty include development and evaluation of curricula, maintaining scheduled office hours, attending department and division meetings, pursuing professional growth activities, service on district and/or college committees, and performing other duties consistent with the role of an instructor. Instructors also have the opportunity to participate in campus extra-curricular activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
- Master's in mathematics or applied mathematics OR Bachelor's in either of the above AND Master's in statistics, physics or mathematics education OR the equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated commitment to equity-minded teaching and eliminating demographic predictability of educational outcomes.
- Commitment to instructional practices that empower students who are typically underrepresented in STEM fields.
- Experience teaching a wide range of student populations that have a variety mathematical skill levels
- Recent experience with pedagogical techniques tailored to address the needs of student populations affected by AB 1705
- Demonstrated commitment to collaboration, collegiality, and service to the community and students outside of the normal teaching duties.

Environment: Indoor, office environment.
Physical Abilities: (Applicants should perform these physical abilities with or without reasonable accommodations) Hearing and speaking to exchange information. Vision sufficient to read various materials. Dexterity of hands and fingers to perform the tasks required of the position. Regularly stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time. Bending at waist, kneeling, or crouching. Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally. Lifting and carrying objects up to 20 lbs.

HIRING RANGE: $76,596.00 - $123,297.00 annually plus benefits; actual placement is based on applicant's verified education and experience.
