Job Description
Tarleton State University, a distinguished Doctoral National Comprehensive University, invites applications for the position of Instructor of Entrepreneurship in the Department of Management.
This is a 9-month, non-tenure-track position located on Tarleton’s main campus in Stephenville, Texas, with primary teaching responsibilities delivered in person. Summer appointment is dependent upon need and funding availability.
The successful candidate will be academically qualified to teach undergraduate courses with a primary focus on Small Business Entrepreneurship, including Small Business Management, New Venture Creation, Entrepreneurial Strategy, Small Business Finance, Small Business Marketing, Exit/Harvest, and related applied entrepreneurship courses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver undergraduate courses in Small Business Entrepreneurship.
- Develop course syllabi, instructional materials, and assessments aligned with experiential and applied learning objectives.
- Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and evaluate learning outcomes.
- Engage students in hands-on, project-based learning experiences, including work with local businesses and entrepreneurial ventures.
- Foster entrepreneurial thinking, opportunity recognition, and problem-solving skills.
- Provide mentorship and academic support to students pursuing entrepreneurial and small business pathways.
- Incorporate innovative teaching approaches, including experiential, case-based, and community-engaged learning.
- Adhere to university policies and AACSB accreditation standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain instructional effectiveness and relevance.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to support program development and community engagement initiatives.
- Contribute to service activities including committees, student recruitment, outreach, and mentorship of adjunct faculty.
Minimum Requirements
- Earned undergraduate degree in business from an AACSB-accredited institution and a master’s degree in entrepreneurship, management, or a closely related discipline from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 5 years of entrepreneurial experience, including founding, managing, or growing a small business or venture.
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
