SUNY Brockport invites applications for a 10-month Instructor position in the Department of RN to BSN within the School of Nursing to begin August 2026. The Instructor has responsibility for teaching a total of 12 credits each fall and spring semester. The majority of teaching will be in the 100% on-line RN to BSN program but may be required to teach in person in other BSN programs. This position engages in scholarly activity and service to the department, the School of Nursing, the University, and the profession.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Teaching
- Teaches a total of 24 credits online for the fall and spring semesters in the RN to BSN program (100% online). May be required to teach in person in other BSN programs.
- Provides experientially based education.
- Infuses diversity issues in teaching and practice.
- Manages student advisement, average about 40 students per calendar year.
- Evaluates clinical project experiences including reviewing and providing feedback on clinical projects to students.
Scholarly Activity and Service
- Engages in scholarly activity to produce scholarly publications and related scholarly work: Publish peer reviewed articles in nursing related national or international journals, conducts professional presentations at local, state, or national conferences, and engages in other scholarly activities.
Service
- Provides service to the department, the University, and profession.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in nursing by the time of appointment from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university
- Valid NYS professional nursing license
- Minimum of two years of practice as a Registered Nurse
- Experience teaching in the online milieu
- Ability to work effectively with students, public, college community and external constituencies, with an appreciation for cultural and group differences
- On campus presence is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with the development of curriculum
- Knowledge of basic computer programs and information technology systems
