Workload
Varies, this is an open posting to fill multiple sessional positions in multiple semesters. Most lectures are either 3 workload hours (direct in-class hours) per week in a standard 15-week semester.
Pay Level
VIUFA F2: temporary instructional.
Starting Salary
$8,196.30 per assigned course consisting of three workload hours. The rate for any courses requiring fewer or greater hours shall be prorated based on this standard.

Start/end date would correlate with specific term.
Additional Information
Shortlisting for Fall work will begin in June 2025 and spring work in September 2025.

Duties:
Vancouver Island University's Education Assistant and Community Support Program is now accepting applications for instructors to teach one or more of the following courses:
- EACS 130 Teaching and Learning Strategies
- EACS 150 Health and Wellness
- EACS 160 Augmentative Communication and Assistive Technology
- EACS 170 Challenging Conditions
- EACS 180 School-based practicum
- EACS 190 Community-based Practicum

Faculty are responsible for preparing and delivering classes, designing and grading student assignments and tests, and facilitating student integration of theory and practice. Faculty will also participate in program and faculty meetings, liaise with support staff, other staff and faculty.

Successful candidates will be responsive to diverse cultural and academic backgrounds and learning styles.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree from an appropriately accredited institution in a human services (social work or educational psychology) or disability field. For EACS 150 a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and current registration in good standing with BCCNP, or another allied health discipline (eg. physiotherapy or occupational therapy) is required.
- Experience supporting persons with disabilities and unique health care needs is essential. Demonstrated proficiency in post-secondary teaching both, online and in the classroom, with the ability to meet the needs of a diverse student population. Knowledge and experience applying theory in practice in a manner that is consistent with the content in the course descriptions. Concrete evidence of collaboration and effective team work.
- Proficiency with the application and integration of information technology in an education environment and familiarity with learning management systems (D2L). Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing and cultural teachings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant PhD (completed or in progress). Broad and current understanding of disability issues.
