SUMMARY
SUNY Brockport invites applications for an Instructor position in the School of Nursing to begin Fall Semester 2026. Position has responsibility for teaching a 4-course load each fall and spring semester in the traditional and accelerated pre-licensure BSN programs, both in class and in the clinical setting. Teaching other courses and labs will be required. Other responsibilities include participation in scholarship activities, student advisement, committee work at the department, school and university level, and participation in curriculum development and evaluation.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Teaching
- Teaches Critical Care to senior traditional and accelerated/second degree students
- Supervises critical care students in critical care arenas
- Teaches other courses and clinical in the lab
- Advises nursing and nursing intent students
Scholarly Activity
- Engages in scholarly activity to produce scholarly publications and related scholarly work
- Publish peer reviewed articles in nursing related national or international journals, conducts professional presentations, and engages in other scholarly activities such as grant writing, writing nursing related books or book chapters
Service
- Provides service to the Department of Bachelor of Science in Nursing, School of Nursing, University, community, and profession of Nursing
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters degree in nursing or doctor in nursing practice (DNP) from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education recognized accrediting organization.
- Valid NYS professional nursing license
- Knowledge and experience in medical surgical and critical care nursing
- Demonstrated teaching proficiency to students and/or colleagues
- Ability to work effectively with students, public, college community and external constituencies, with an appreciation for cultural and group differences
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Work Schedule: Variable. May include evening class and clinical.
