Seeking a highly motivated and energetic manager to coordinate educational and training services as well as a high level of community engagement programing. Under the supervision of the Vice President for Business and Community Services, the INTERIM Facility Coordinator oversees the operational management of the HCC MGM Culinary Arts Institute, the HCC Culinary Arts Truck and the Picknelly Adult & Family Education Center. This position provides coordination of the services, staff and equipment related to the classrooms, labs and public spaces of the facilities.

  • Coordinates and oversees the overall operation and management of the facilities with supervisory and budgetary responsibility.
  • Serves as the point of contact for 1st and 2nd floor operations at CAI in regard to scheduling, enrollment, student-related issues, maintenance, security and visitor-related issues; and,
  • Serves as the first point of contact for the 1st, 3rd and 4th floors at PAFEC scheduling, maintenance, security and visitor and tenant related issues.
  • Works collaboratively to support the college credit and non-credit programs and community organizations as they develop and implement a cohesive plan of educational activities based at the HCC MGM Culinary Arts Institute. Also fosters the development of new community programming. And works with the program coordinator for PAFEC to insure coordinated and effective implementation of training and educational programs at that facility.
  • Coordinates logistics of space usage at both the CAI and PAFEC for the community and for various events held at the facility (credit, non-credit, fee-based activities and community classes).
  • Manages system of access to rooms at the facilities including scheduling, key system, security systems and access to technology.
  • Monitors the budgets for both facilities and the Hospitality and Culinary budgets for reasonable expenditures for personnel, maintenance, security, equipment and teaching materials.
  • Conducts outreach and speaks with other community members, including representatives from business, government, and other social service and educational organizations, in order to promote collaborations and linkages to the college and both CAI and PAFEC. Assists with the development of marketing materials and may initiate some direct marketing.
  • Provides general information to students, both credit and non-credit, in order to connect them with the appropriate college resources. The Coordinator will work with various student service departments to ensure students have access, proper information and timely responses to their individual requests.
  • Produces reports in terms of facility usage and budget performance at both locations. Provides regular reports to HCC, community partners and funding sources, as appropriate, as well as an annual report to HCC on non-credit enrollment and related activities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises the part-time receptionist/clerk/greeter at CAI and the part-time staff assistant as well as the greeter at PAFEC;
  • Supervises part-time CAI laboratory technicians and work-study students for both credit and non-credit programs;
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Holyoke Community College's policies and applicable laws;
  • Interviewing, hiring, and training; planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining and addressing complaints and resolving problems;
  • May have to provide daily direction, although not direct supervision, for various grant funded positions in relation to the operation of the facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and experience with a broad range of community outreach and educational and workforce development operations, policies and procedures;
  • Minimum of three years of experience in facilities and personnel management;
  • Demonstrated communication, writing and presentation skills. Evidence of strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
  • Demonstrated ability in program management, budgeting and staff supervision;
  • Demonstrated ability to build teamwork and collaboration amongst diverse groups with wide ranging priorities;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five years of experience in facility/personnel management and or community engagement;
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish);
  • Ability to provide community outreach and increase educational program activities.

Working Conditions:

  • Subject to variations of temperature, noise, odors, etc;
  • May use computer keyboards requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity. Balancing, crouching, grasping, pulling, reaching and stooping may also be required;
  • May require some travel between facilities.
