About the Role

In this new role, you'll take responsibility for further developing and embedding NTU's research security policy and process, including compliance with export and trade control legislation and related research security requirements and considerations.

You will be based within the Research Strategy and Operations Directorate, working across academic disciplines and professional services to keep improving understanding of, and compliance with, all required standards of trusted research and international due diligence across the University.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Embedding of the University’s international research security policies and processes, including for key compliance issues such as Export Control, National Security and Investment Act 2021
  • Implementation and further development of the institutional research due diligence process to ensure it is targeted, proportional and effective.
  • Identification, recording, and tracking of due diligence issues, export control licence applications and export licences granted to NTU for exported technologies.
  • Acting as the principal point of contact for international research security matters, including providing advice, guidance and practical help to enable academics to manage their research security responsibilities.

About Us

The role sits within the University’s Research Strategy and Operations (RSO) Directorate, which has responsibility for research support functions spanning strategy, policy, governance, funding, partnership building, and impact. Developing highly functional relationships is an integral part of how we work, and we strive to provide a high-quality service to our academic community. We are working hard to build a positive, supportive, and enabling culture which includes a diverse team with a mix of experiences and backgrounds. We operate on a hybrid basis (normally 3 days a week on campus and 2 days a week working from home). Being co-located with other members of the team is an important part of building relationships, sharing intelligence and ideas, and feeling part of something real; in this role, it will also be important to spend time with other key professional service teams (e.g. HR, Finance, Post-Award, Global), as well as engaging with external stakeholders. We know that everyone has their own needs and preferences in terms of working arrangements, and we endeavour to ensure that our hybrid model works for different individuals.
