Scope of Job:
To coordinate and schedule the daily operations pertaining to Interactive classes and high level meetings via interactive video and distance learning, oversee and coordinate the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of all assigned IT Media Systems, such as classroom technology systems, videoconferencing technology systems in support of UTRGV faculty, students, staff and visitors.
Description of Duties:
- Performs advanced troubleshooting, diagnoses and testing of IT Media Systems to ensure proper operations.
- Develops hardware specifications for Video Network Infrastructure and Unified Communications implementation.
- May act as a team lead for special projects and oversee all activities associated with Media system installs, upgrades or maintenance.
- Deploys and manages digital signage infrastructure, and coordinates resources by collaboration with university colleges and organizations.
- Collaborates in the concepts, designs, and production of future-focused, high impact assets in support of interactive telepresence media systems.
- Researches, learns, develops and implements new procedures and interactive technologies.
- Coordinates with university staff and faculty to determine multimedia and basic infrastructure requirements for any new conference room, interactive classroom media design.
- Communicates problems and escalates issues with hardware and/or software according to the manufacturer warranty agreements.
- Maintains compliance, license, and warranty information related to multimedia and video infrastructure facilities.
- Develops manuals, workbooks, procedures, or related materials for use in conjunction with IT multimedia systems facilities general use and/or for training purposes.
- Ensures appropriate and accurate escalation of incidents that require resolution by other University departments beyond the IT Service Desk.
- Implements procedures for standard operation procedures of smart classrooms, interactive telepresence classrooms and all multimedia facilities.
- Provides advanced determination and problem resolutions for high level support of university resources.
- Responsible for coordinating and scheduling resources and services to best support faculty/students/staff and customers' technology needs.
- Assists in the development of a capital plan, including planning for infrastructure upgrades, equipment replacements and building modifications to ensure the buildings future capabilities are maintained.
- Conducts training and develops strategies for staff, faculty, students and other clients on the operations of IT Media Systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Attends seminars and courses to remain current on state-of-the-art instructional technologies.
- Makes recommendations for tools, equipment, office supplies, etc. for successful daily operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education:
Associates Degree in Information Technology field, or 60 hours of College Credit with a minimum 18 hours of IT related coursework

Required Experience:
Five (5) years of experience in technical support related to computer hardware, audio, video and computer equipment, multimedia display and control systems, networking and/or experience performing software upgrades, or substitute education or experience on a one-on-one basis.

Equipment:
Use of standard office equipment. Advanced conflict resolution skills related to support of IT multimedia systems. Advanced Knowledge in principles, practices and techniques related to multimedia hardware and software associated with implementation of video networks, audio/video/multimedia/presentation hardware and software installations, live event setups, and comprehensive maintenance and support. Advanced knowledge in interactive conferencing technology operations and installations.
Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties, including setting up and connection of needed systems. Ability to lift equipment up to 30 pounds and perform work on ladders. Construction environment during installation projects along with office environment some travel and evening/weekend work is required.
