Job Title: IT Multi-Discipline Specialist
Department: Arts and Sciences | Information Technology
Functions as a member of the Arts and Sciences Technology Services (ASCTech) Operations - Support team, providing comprehensive computer hardware and software support to the College, with a primary focus on users in the assigned unit(s). Maintains users' IT hardware and software, and interfaces with related instruments and devices in a heavily Linux unit. Troubleshoots and resolves problems; installs and deploys new/upgraded hardware and software; directly supports other IT facilities such as laboratories, AV-equipped conference rooms, and special research networks in the College. Coordinates within ASCTech to provide technical advice, guidance, and create solutions for IT users, including researchers with unique and varied needs; recommends solutions and services to meet IT users' needs; advises on and promotes prescribed security and risk management practices and principles; develops technology solutions for faculty research, teaching, and administration.
Works on site in several buildings with internal and external service providers to manage and carry out all phases of the IT hardware and software lifecycles from need specification to procurement to deployment to decommissioning; specifies and procures IT services from ASCTech, OTDI, and external vendors; monitors such services and triages troubleshooting with ASCTech, OTDI, and external vendors. Mentors tier 1 staff. Other duties as assigned. May require occasional evening or weekend hours. Requires successful completion of background check.
Required: Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, specialization in science or engineering preferred. Two years of relevant experience. Proficiency with Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu) in an academic environment both server and desktop; familiarity with Linux scripting; Proficiency with Windows and Macintosh operating systems; working knowledge of PC hardware; understands basic networking including switching, routing, firewalls. Demonstrated ability to work on complex customer requests to deliver services and resolve issues; demonstrated problem solving/troubleshooting skills. Proven ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
Desired: Degree with specialization in science or engineering preferred. Familiarity with Python and its management. Previous experience in both research and teaching laboratory settings, and experience using desktop support applications such as Satellite, Puppet, Ansible, MECM, Jamf, or Bomgar.

The pay range for this job profile is $64,900 - $84,850. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
