Journalism Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool)
Job Description
Ohlone College is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for temporary part-time teaching assignments in Journalism.

Position Description
Assignments may include day, evening, and weekend courses, in-person, online, or hybrid formats at Fremont Campus, Newark Center, and/or eCampus. Applications are accepted year-round and remain in the pool for two years.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach Journalism according to established course outlines.
- Evaluate student work and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain accurate records such as grades and attendance.
- Create an equity-based and welcoming classroom environment.
- Perform duties as per Board policy and faculty handbook.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's in journalism or communication with a journalism specialization; or Bachelor's in the above and Master's in English, history, communication, or related fields; or equivalent. Must demonstrate commitment to equity, anti-racism, and serving diverse students. Desirable Qualifications
- Teaching experience at the community college level.
- Use of innovative teaching methods for student engagement.
- Experience creating inclusive and equitable classroom materials.
- Addressing equity issues and supporting minoritized students.
- Proficiency with computer technology and course management systems.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
