Junior Computational/Translational Science (Assistant Professor level)
Houston Methodist (HM) Academic Institute invites applications for a junior independent faculty position in computational biology, who aims to address ambitious biological questions in spatial transcriptomics and multiomics, 3D tissue architecture, or cell-cell communication, with an emphasis on characterizing the tumor microenvironment in urologic cancers. The successful candidate will have access to existing spatial transcriptomics infrastructure, as well as Houston Methodist Hospital’s extensive human tissue cohorts, excellent computational power, and data-generation resources through highly collaborative clinical faculty. Ideal candidates will have expertise in data analysis using cutting-edge computational tools and in algorithm development for spatial or single-cell multi-omics, with interests in cancer biology and a history of collaborative research with basic cancer biologists and physician-scientists. More than any single technique, we value bold and innovative vision, independence and discipline, work ethic and rigor, collaborative spirit, and the ability to drive a distinctive research program.
This position will involve close collaborations and integration with Neal Cancer Center with Dr. Keith S Chan (NCI Methodist TBEL U54 PI, CPRIT Established Scholar) https://www.research4cure.org/, Dr. Yinan Gong (NIH Director’s New Innovator Awardee) https://www.yinangong.com/, and Dr. Fotis Nikolos (DoD Career Awardee) with opportunities to participate in national consortiums and building new program projects. Generous recruitment package will be provided by the HMRI, with complementary opportunities to be nominated through the CPRIT First-Time Investigator mechanism. Highly qualified associate professors will also be considered. Please kindly include your complete CV, 2-page research statement summarizing your 5-year research plan, and three names/contact of references to Christine Nguyen at clnguyen@houstonmethodist.org
