Kit Assembly Associate - Temporary
Overview
The Space Physics Group in the Department of Astrophysical Sciences is seeking a Kit Assembly Associate to prepare kits and to manage inventory. The kits are on topics related to the NASA IMAP science mission described below.
This is a part-time, temporary summer job on Princeton University’s campus. The schedule will be approximately 20-25 hours per week during weekday business hours. The hourly compensation for this role ranges from $17 to $18, commensurate with experience.

About IMAP
Launched in 2025, NASA’s Interstellar Mapping and Acceleration Probe (IMAP) explores our solar neighborhood by decoding particles from the Sun and beyond our cosmic shield. The spacecraft carries 10 cutting-edge instruments and orbits about one million miles from Earth toward the Sun, allowing it to study the boundary of the Solar System and provide warnings of harmful radiation.

IMAP Outreach engages community organizations across the country through themed educational activities and communications.
Responsibilities
The Kit Assembly Associate will work independently and collaboratively as part of a team to assemble and prepare outreach kits by interpreting packing lists, organizing scientific materials and technical components, and ensuring accuracy and completeness prior to shipment.
Responsibilities also include inventory management and supply tracking using Excel, restocking materials, monitoring inventory levels, and supporting packing, labeling, and shipping operations.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to perform technical assembly tasks accurately and efficiently are essential.
- Experience using Excel is required.
- Must be able to lift 30 lb boxes.
- Willingness to learn project management software to track tasks (Basecamp)
- Bachelor’s degree or certificate and experience in STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) Education preferred.
